Revolutionizing Advanced Surgical Practice with The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique for Mastectomies:
Raising the Standard of Care

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique in Mastectomy Surgery

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique benefits the mastectomy patient more than any other method in existence.
This is quite a bold statement, but one that has demonstrated time and time again to provide unmatched surgical care.
A mastectomy can be a necessity for some women, while for others it is an act of prevention. These are both very poignant approaches possessing equal value for such a dramatic, and turning point moment in a woman’s life. The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique raises that standard to unprecedented levels as it utilizes technology and surgical mastery to optimize the surgical experience of a mastectomy patient.

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique does not compromise mastectomy patients

Simplifying the surgical process was a driving factor for Dr. Ansanelli advancing this surgery to what it is today. A mastectomy alone presents a trying emotional experience for the patient. When this experience is complicated by pain, damage to the tissue, Rx medications, long-term structural damage, dependency on others, hospitalization, general anesthesia, nerve blocking, complications, infections, prolonged recovery care, potential additional surgeries, and a departure from autonomy and normal routine, these factors complicate the already taxing experience of losing a key factor of a woman’s identity. Many women fear surgery for this reason. They do not want to be victimized and mutilated in order to serve their cancer. There are many courageous women that meet the experience head on but are still faced with the horrendous aftermath of surgery.

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique in mastectomy surgery is immunologically more supportive to the cancer patient

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique approaches mastectomy as an art. Having trained from a pioneer in mastectomy surgery at Columbia University Medical Center, Dr. Cushman D. Haagensen, Dr. Ansanelli’s iconic steady hand and futuristic approach to surgical care have enabled the advancement of technology to better serve the experience of the mastectomy patient. This applies to stage 4 necrotic tumors. The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique enables the patient to have modified or radical mastectomies without pain. Following surgery instead of morphine and heavy Rx pain and preventative medications, the patient has at most a Tylenol. A tremendous support to the already taxed immunity of the cancer patient. The patient has the ability to leave within 30 minutes after surgery going for lunch and resuming her day normally. No IV’s, hospital stay, complications from general anesthesia, heavy drainage, or intensive recovery care after surgery. Another unique benefit to the immunity of the cancer patient.

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique enables mastectomy patients to be immediately autonomous following advanced surgery

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser mastectomy patient is uniquely autonomous immediately (thirty minutes- 1 hour) following massive surgery. Many women have traveled across the country alone to have Dr. Ansanelli’s mastectomy surgery. Many of his mastectomy patients have not wanted to tell their families until they felt it was the right time. This immediate recovery process without dependency or necessity for assistance, physical therapy or wound care support, enables the patient to stay in control of her own body. Another crucial factor that this work enables is for the woman to be able to maintain the emotional consistency she needs in staying focused on the next stages of her care after surgery. She is not dependent on anything, or anyone other than herself. Making best next choices with a clear mind and essential physical strength. Next step treatment can be debilitating, and to face it in a weakened state is not optimal or with this beneficial option of care, necessary.

No tissue damage created (including burning or charring of tissue) with The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique

On a more technical level, this is all possible with The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique because the patient’s tissue during surgery is not being damaged. The laser light dissects tissue not by burning or charring like standard approaches. Instead, this light uniquely absorbs the water in the cells during dissection and vaporizes into a plume. This vaporization does not leave residual damage. Instead what remains is tissue that is sterilized and sealed, reducing the cancer cell spread throughout the blood vessels and lymphatics. Here is a comparison between knife surgery, laser surgery, and cautery surgery. These sealing and sterilization feature also dramatically reduce the post-operative drainage to minimal levels. The infection and complications risk post-operatively are nearly eliminated.

No General Anesthesia required for The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique Mastectomy (radical/modified)

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique enables the patient to be under local anesthesia with IV sedation during these advanced procedures. This is a support to the patient’s immunity, preventing any post-operative complications caused by standard approaches that require general anesthesia or nerve blocking. The undamaged tissue from The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique enables the patient to have a dramatic risk reduction in physical complications. This greatly reduces the need for physical therapy to regain movement in the arm following the mastectomy. Additionally, the scarring is improved (everybody scars differently) as the tissues are not damaged. Standard methods typically increase the scarring processes due to the damage unavoidably created during dissection.

Unique sterilization and sealing capabilities with The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique: reducing cancer cell spread

The Ansanelli Co2 Laser patients have another exclusive feature provided to them once the cancerous breast tissue is removed. First, Dr. Ansanelli lazes the surgical bed. This provides additional sealing and sterilization to the surgical site. Animal studies have demonstrated a reduction in local recurrence by 80%. This further sterilization dries the surgical field reducing infections complications and heavy post-operative drainage. This unique process also eliminates any remaining microscopic cancer cell activity. This is accomplished without creating damaging to the area or leaving any residual damage for the body to reabsorb. This clean surgical process makes advanced surgery reach a new level of capability both in surgery and in the presentation of the surgical setting.

Cosmetic results unique to The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique Mastectomies

A cosmetic result is always important to Dr. Ansanelli both at the start of surgery with his first bloodless incision, to the very last suture that he completes underneath the skin with dissolvable sutures. When possible, Dr. Ansanelli builds up the remaining fatty breast tissue creating cleavage. This enhancement sometimes enables the patient to wake up from the 1-2 hour procedure with a small breast. These results have proven highly successful with women that are not looking to have any reconstructive surgery. Many of his patients have called him the Michelangelo of surgery for this reason.

Compare universal standard methods of surgery to The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique

The universally utilized standard practice of mastectomies by knife, electro (electric) cautery and plasma kinetic cautery can be compared to The Ansanelli Co2 Laser Technique in surgical capabilities on Co2 vs. Standard Methods page .
