I specialize in the treatment of breast cancer.

I use a LASER for the surgical treatment of breast cancer, ductal cancer in situ (DCIS), micro calcifications and other diseases of the breast. LASER procedures include, biopsy, lumpectomy, mastectomy, and other indicated procedures. LASER has many advantages (read below).

There are some instances when major surgery can be avoided, or the tumor can be reduced prior to surgical removal, by using FDA approved hormonal agents. I explore this first.

The advantages of LASER treatment to the patient are as follows:

There is little to no pain, there-by decreasing the need for narcotics during and after surgery.
The LASER seals the perimeter around the tumor during its removal. This prevents seeding of potential cancer cells in the local area. Less chance of local re-occurance.
The LASER also seals the lymphatics and blood vessels during surgery. It reduces blood loss and minimizes post operational wound drainage due to this sealing property. This same sealing property potentially decreases tumor cell spread by sealing these blood vessels and lymphatics and preventing cancer cell travel.
Because there is less blood loss, it is unlikely that blood tranfusion will be needed.
This technique greatly reduces the incidence of infection due to the intense heat and little to no cellular damage.
The LASER also decreases the need for anesthesia during surgery. In over 95% of cases the surgery is performed under local anesthesia with intravenous medication rather than general anesthesia.
Another benefit of LASERS is the ability to sterilize the surgical field.
Animal studies have demonstrated a decrease in local recurrence of cancer.
The incision causes less skin damage because it is made by a fine beam of light. Scarring is minimized.

Due to the above benefits of LASER surgery, the patient has a speedier post-op recovery and an earlier return to normal activity.
